Bainbridge Chorale Young Singers Program

July 21st - 25th 2008

 Open to students entering grades 2 - 8

This week long vocal camp on Bainbridge Island from 9:00 - 12:00 each day will feature all aspects of vocal development in a relaxed, informal setting.

The daily schedule will include: Vocal and body warm-ups, breathing techniques through singing, music theory and rhythm skills using instruments and hand bells. A music mystery guest each day will share his/her skills with the singers to enhance their music making for the week and beyond.

On Friday there will be an end-of-week performance open to the community, filled with the songs and music learned throughout the week. They are guaranteed to be toe-tappers and summer sizzlers!

Cost per singer is $175 for new singers, or $150 for current YSP singers. Family discounts and limited scholarships are available; please contact the Chorale office.

Kathleen Bullivant, Director for the Young Singers Program and the vocal camp, has over 20 years' experience in directing, writing curricula and teaching summer camps for Westminster Choir College of Rider University in NJ. “Teaching summer camp is always something I look forward to. It is fun to break away from the traditional teaching that happens in class during the school year and to branch out and learn through singing some wonderful music that stays with us as we journey through life. Some of my favorite songs I learned at summer music camps and I look forward to sharing the toe-tappers and upbeat songs with others.”

Nancy Lyman Bergman is the accompanist for the Young Singers Program and has worked throughout her career with students of all ages in the area of instrumental teaching. She is a current member of a Renaissance Ensemble, the organist and pianist for Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church, accompanist for Evergreen singers, and also maintains a private piano studio. She enjoys working with young musicians and shares her talent and gifts freely with others.
