Nancy Houghton
Nancy Hurlow Houghton, MA, MT-BC is a Board Certified Music Therapist as recognized by the American Music Therapy Association and the Certification Board for Music Therapists. Houghton currently conducts private practice with adults and children on Bainbridge Island and serves as adjunct faculty teaching music therapy at Seattle Pacific University. Houghton¹s clinical music therapy work involves several client populations including those with developmental, emotional, social and physical challenges. She also conducts retreats and seminars on the use of music in healing. She writes a monthly column on music therapy for the Seattle publication Victory Music Review. Houghton has been a member of the Bainbridge Chorale since 1991, serves as Alto Section Leader, and is a newly elected board member. The education outreach fund from the Bainbridge Chorale has supported Houghton¹s work in the special needs Pre-K classrooms on Bainbridge and also at the senior center. Houghton is an active member of the Special Needs delegation for the Bainbridge-Ometepe Sister Island Association and plays handbells with the Bell'amici Handbell Quartet.
