Let’s Talk Money Effective 9/06

Resource Development (Fundraising) Updated 9/06

A survey of Chorale finances shows that last year 42% of funding came from three fixed income sources:  participation fees, class fees, ticket sales, and a small amount of interest from reserve monies

The remaining 58% must be derived from donations, grants and fundraising projects. For the upcoming 2006-2007 season’s projected budget, this 58% translates into about $35,000. Chorale board members and the Resource Development & Management Committee hope to realize this income from the following:

  • Patrons of Bainbridge Chorale program listing.
  • Bainbridge Foundation “One Call For All” grant
  • Grant writing.
  • Corporate sponsorship of concerts. We will actively seek financial assistance from businesses through their sponsorship of concerts and printed materials such as programs, flyers and posters.
  • Participation in the annual Auction for the Arts. This has become our major fund-raising activity, and there are many ways for each member to help with this project.
  • Cookie sales at concerts. While not a big money raiser, this is popular with audiences.
  • Item sales. A small profit has been realized from the sale of tote bags, shirts, CDs etc.
  • Memorial Fund. Donations to this fund are to be used for education for Chorale members through workshops and an annual scholarship to a Chorale member. We hope to increase exposure of the fund and encourage more donations
  • Advertising in programs. This has become a significant source of revenue, and a committee of several people is needed to handle ad sales and tracking. Ads will be sold on an annual basis, to be included in programs of all concerts.

As you can see, there are many opportunities for members to participate in Chorale fundraising efforts. With support and participation from everyone, Bainbridge Chorale will remain on a firm financial footing!

Many respondents to the last Chorale survey spoke to the issue of maintaining financial solvency through a savings program and/or endowment fund.  The Chorale presently maintains a modest cash reserve fund with the accruing interest used to help offset ever-increasing operational costs.  Contributions to the Chorale can assist in the growth of the reserve, enabling us to meet operational needs as well as institute educational programs requested by members.

Ticket Sales Statement  Updated 9/90

The Chorale depends on its members for the majority of all ticket sales.  This income supports the performance budget for the entire year.  Several weeks before concert dates each member will be given tickets to sell and a sheet explaining the procedure for selling tickets and for turning in the money and/or unsold tickets.  Ticket sales business may be taken care of before and after rehearsal and during rehearsal breaks.
