Music  Updated 9/95

It is the singers' responsibility to take good care of the music assigned to them.  It often costs more than $25.00 per person.  Music is often borrowed and must be returned in good condition.  We encourage singers to make penciled notes on their music.  DO NOT use ink or hi-liter.  After the last concert, erasers will be available for singers to remove the markings from the music.  Music should be turned in to the Librarian at that time.

Contractually, the Director chooses all music for the Chorus, consulting with the Board of Trustees on issues of budget, seasonal scheduling, and timelines

Music Folders  Effective 9/06

It is necessary to have a black music folder for concert performance.  The chorale offers two styles of folders for your purchase.  These will be available to order from the Item Sales Chairperson, Mary Rosenblatt.   Basic Folder $9.00 - Deluxe Folder $24.00

Performances 9/95

Concert performances are usually held on Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons in varying locations.

Performance Attire Updated 9/06

Fall 2006: The Chorale attire will include performance vests and white tux shirts with red or black ties. Chorale provides the vests. It is the responsibility of the singer to purchase their own shirts and ties. These items can be ordered through Mills Music, 360-779-1773, near Central Market in Poulsbo.

 PLEASE REMEMBER:

  • Do not use scents or fragrance of any kind.  A hundred fragrant people standing side by side can be overwhelming to those who have chemical sensitivities.
  • Wear only minimal jewelry - no dangly earrings, bracelets, or tongue studs.
  • Remove beeping watches and beepers.

DO NOT CHEW GUM AT REHEARSALS OR PERFORMANCES!!

Performance Etiquette 9/96

Over the years, the Chorale has developed a loyal and sizable paying audience.  Bainbridge Chorale members work hard throughout the rehearsal process to perfect the music.  At performance time, it is essential to produce the concert with a professional and responsible stage appearance.  Please observe the following guidelines during each performance.

 You are expected to:

  • Attend all concerts  and come on time
  • Observe scent and jewelry requests.
  • Come well prepared. Hold your head up so you can see important cues.
  • When Director is off the podium music should be held on the left side/left hand of singer.
  • Wait for the Conductor’s cue to raise or lower your folder
  • Pay attention to your Director.
  • Do Not applaud, even as soloists are recognized.
  • Keep your eyes on the Conductor and not on the audience, orchestra, or soloists.
  • Hold your folder at an angle such that you can see both your music and the Conductor.
  • Do Not talk during concerts

Rehearsals  Updated 9/99

Singers are expected to attend every rehearsal.  If a singer is ill or otherwise unable to be present at a rehearsal, please call the Chorale message line at 780-CHOR (2467) prior to the rehearsal and explain the circumstances.  All singers need to be present to create the unified blend of voices that produces a great choral sound.  If more than two rehearsals are missed, the director may require you to demonstrate proficiency in the concert music.

PleaseCome on time.  Pay attention.  Take extraneous conversations outside.  Bring your music.  Learn your music.

Ask your Section Leader for assistance. Be prepared at each rehearsal, in order to stay with the group’s progress. Wear your nametag. Protect your music - annotate in pencil only. Allow the Director pre-rehearsal focus time. Do not hum or talk during rehearsal.  Catch up after missed rehearsals and sectionals.

Dress Rehearsals Updated 9/01

Dress rehearsals are usually held at 7:00 p.m. on a scheduled evening prior to the first concert weekend.

Extra Rehearsals Updated 9/96

The Director may call extra rehearsals.
