Michael Austin Miller, originally from Charleston, South Carolina, now resides in Snohomish, WA where he has served as Director of Music Ministries at Christ the King Lutheran Church since his move from Rock Hill, SC to the Pacific Northwest in October 2007. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from Winthrop University, Rock Hill, SC. He has held choral and instrumental teaching positions from elementary to university level. In May 2005, Michael became the director of the Winthrop University Jazz Voices, one of the premier vocal jazz ensembles in the southeast upon the retirement of its founder and his mentor, Dr. Robert Edgerton. For a decade, Michael conducted the Lancaster Chamber Choir of Lancaster, SC, and later, Impromptu! of Charlotte, NC, a select vocal ensemble that performed throughout Charlotte including guest appearances in Charlotte’s “Singing Christmas Tree.” In response to numerous requests to supply music at various Rock Hill civic events, he co-founded and directed the Rock Hill Community Choir. He enjoys serving as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator for school, church and honor choirs.
