The 2018-2019 season marks the ninth year of Michael Austin Miller’s tenure as Artistic Director of the Bainbridge Chorale.
Under his direction, the Chorale continues to attract new singers and audience members while experiencing growth in vocal skills and exploring both contemporary and classic choral repertoire.
Aside from being an award-winning educator, Miller has become increasingly interested in arranging and composing. He currently serves as Composer in Residence for reSound: a Northwest Chamber Ensemble, directed by Dr. Stephen Marshall-Ward. His compositions and arrangements have been performed by church, school, community, and university choirs across the country. The professional music fraternity Phi Mu Alpha published Miller’s composition Brotherhood and Duty in its 1998 Centennial Edition Sinfonian Songbook.
He has served on the board of the Greater Seattle Choral Consortium. Other professional organizations to which he belongs include: the American Choral Directors Association, Chorus America, the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), Phi Mu Alpha (a professional music fraternity), and the music honor society Pi Kappa Lambda.
