The mission of the Olympic Girls’ Choir is to provide girls and young women a transformative experience through high-quality, diverse choral music education which emphasizes teamwork, encourages self-discipline, and fosters a deep commitment to artistic excellence.
The program is designed to instill a love of music, develop musicality, and encourage a lifelong engagement with choral music.
The Olympic Girls’ Choir, inaugurated in September 2014, currently serves 35 girls in three tiered ensembles, Encora, Cantabile, and the Chamber Choir, from Bainbridge Island and the Kitsap area. Founding Artistic Director Laura Milleson, who stepped down at the end of the 2017-2018 season, is succeeded this fall by Angie Godfrey, who formerly served as the Associate Director for Youth Programs for the Bainbridge Chorale.
Angie has over 15 years of experience directing musical groups of all ages. While living in California’s Bay area, Angie taught music in the Cupertino Union School District. She directed music in Elementary Orff Music, middle school band, choir and musical theater. Since moving to Bainbridge Island 6 years ago, Angie has been the Music Specialist at Montessori Country School which offers instruction to ages preschool to 6th Grade. She is also an active member in the Bainbridge Chorale.
Information about the program, how to become a member, and the 2018-2019 season is available at the Olympic Girls’ Choir website.
